Prior to participating, I promise to inspect the Contest Site, Water and Surf Conditions and, in doing so, satisfy myself as to the safety of participating.  I will not participate, nor have any minor for which I am legal guardian, participate unless personally satisfied with the conditions involved in this “At-Risk Sport”. Participation could cause bodily injury to myself or my minor, up to and including death. I accept all responsibility and acknowledge injury or even death is possible from seen or unforeseen causes, such as other contestants, participants, public users of the shoreline waters and beach. This includes injury and/or death from SHARKS (as they have been sighted near Doheny State Beach), weather and ocean conditions, or other hazardous marine life, including landscapes above and below the water tide line. In consideration for the right to participate in this event and contest, I the undersigned agree to release and hold harmless the Doheny Longboard Surfing Association (DLSA), its members, Board of Directors and Officers, Sponsors, and the State of California from all claims, demands, grievances, up to and including those of “Active and Gross Negligence,” for all liabilities, damages, known or unknown, permanent or otherwise, received as a participant, legal guardian, contestant, or spectator at/or in this event as described above.  I, and my family, will comply with CDC rules of Social Distancing Guidelines and wear a mask when not in the water if not vaccinated, holding the above parties harmless should I or a member of my family contract COVID, or any variant thereof, or other contiguous disease while in attendance. All images and media recorded during the event are the legal property of DLSA and its event sponsors along with the State of California. DLSA reserves the right to move heats, heat times, and contestants at will.
