NEFHS Conference Scholarship Application 2023

The New England Federation of Humane Societies (NEFHS) is proud to offer scholarship funding in collaboration with the John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation for the 2023 Annual Conference in Hartford, CT (April 15 - 17, 2023)!

In accordance with the grantors wishes, priority will be given to applicants from organizations fitting the following criteria:

o Annual budget of less than $500,000
o Has not sent anyone to the conference in the past 3 years.

If your organization does not meet these criteria, you may still apply, and additional scholarships for people not meeting these criteria may be awarded as funds permit.

In order to ensure your application is considered, please read the information below and abide by the requirements for application submission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Scholarship Information:

    o Thanks to the John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation, scholarship awardees will receive free conference registration, as well as free hotel room and mileage reimbursement for travel to the conference as needed. Mileage reimbursement will be capped at $200 per participant.

    o Scholarship includes breakfast and lunch catered at the conference each day but does not included meals outside of the conference or other personal expenses.

    o Do not register online for the conference until you have been notified by the Scholarship Committee about scholarship awards.
  • Scholarship Requirements & Conditions:

    o Applications & supporting documents must be received by March 5, 2023 to be considered. Late applications will only be considered on a resource available basis.

    o Complete this online form to apply for the scholarship.
    ------Be sure to have your essay and letter of reference ready for electronic submission.
    ------If you are unable to complete this online form, send completed application & supporting documents to the Scholarship Committee Chair, Devon Krusko, dkrusko@newenglandfed.org

    o You must initial the Statement of Commitment and electronically sign the application.
    o Please be sure to submit the application & supporting documents at the same time.
    o Each person applying for a scholarship must submit a separate application.

    ~ Why you are interested in attending this program
    ~ How you hope to use what you learn at the conference
    ~How long have you been involved in animal welfare
    ~ How did you learn about this scholarship opportunity?

  • Letter of Support: Upload a one page (maximum) letter of support from a supervisor, colleague, or peer from the organization that you are representing explaining why you should be chosen to receive scholarship funding for this conference.

    I understand that scholarship funds are in high demand and not all applicants can/will be funded. I understand cancelling last minute or not attending without notice does not allow NEFHS to offer the funds to wait-listed applicants. I am initialing below to indicate my understanding that if I am to receive scholarship funds, I commit to attending the NEFHS Annual Conference.
