Please note: NC811 is the notification center for the state of North Carolina. NC811 does not locate utilities or employ locators, nor does NC811 manage locator schedules. If you have an issue with a locate that was performed please contact the locate company directly.

You must contact 811 directly and speak with a customer service representative to deal with locate information. I understand that NC811 is the state notification center and does not locate utilities, only processes the locate information. Locators are employed and/or managed by the utility companies. The 811 service is free to you because the facility operators pay NC 811 to help protect their buried utilities. The 811 system will not notify utility locators to mark private lines such as water and sewer lines from the meter to the residence or business. This also includes well lines and secondary power lines.
