Pyr Paws N Fluffy Tails Rescue: Foster Application
First and foremost, before you start this application—thank you.

Seriously.

By clicking on a foster application, you've already done more for rescue than most people realize. You've taken the first step toward becoming a temporary hero, professional treat distributor, part-time therapist, amateur dog photographer, and occasional negotiator of household chaos.

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to help dogs in need because quite simply, without foster homes, rescue doesn't happen. We're a foster-based rescue. We don't have a shelter, a facility, or a secret dog warehouse hidden somewhere. Every dog we save does so because someone opens their home and says, "Okay, one more fluffy butt won't hurt."

When you foster, you're giving a dog something they may have never experienced before: a safe place to sleep, a predictable routine, patience, kindness, and the opportunity to simply be a dog.

Some dogs arrive scared. Some arrive confused.
Some arrive convinced that countertops are an unlimited buffet. Many have never lived inside a home before. Others have never known stability. Your job isn't to be perfect. Your job is simply to help them decompress, learn, heal, and prepare for whatever comes next.

And while the goal is always for the dog to find their forever family, foster homes are where the magic happens. They are the bridge between a dog's past and their future. Every adoption story starts with someone willing to say "yes" to fostering.

Fair warning: fostering may result in excessive dog photos, an increased appreciation for lint rollers, random happy tears, and an uncontrollable urge to tell complete strangers about your foster dog's latest accomplishment.

Simply put, fostering changes lives.

The dog's.

And often your own.

We're incredibly grateful you're considering joining our team of dog-saving weirdos. ❤️
  • The "Boring" but Important Part of Paperwork

Before we match you with a future foster pup who needs you, we just need to gather a few details about you. We know—this part isn’t nearly as fun as welcoming a dog into your home—but it’s an important step in making sure we can place the right dog with the right foster family and support you along the way. This information helps us understand your household, contact you quickly when a dog is in need, and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Quick reminder: please double-check your phone number and email address before submitting your application. If either is entered incorrectly, you may miss time-sensitive updates about foster opportunities, and we may have to close out your application if we’re unable to reach you.

  • Let’s Talk About Your Home Sweet Home

We need to know where our fluffy butt will be living their best life—whether you own, rent, or have a pet-friendly castle with a fence that’s taller than your neighbor’s love for gossip.

***If a question doesn’t apply, just pop in an "N/A" and skip to the next one.***

    Landlord Information:
  • By “fenced-in yard,” we mean a secure enclosure that fully surrounds the area where the dog will be allowed to roam. The fence should be continuous (no gaps or broken sections). It must also connect directly to the home (for example, accessible from a back door, patio, or deck) so that the dog can move from inside to outside without needing to be walked there.

Partial fencing, fencing around only part of the yard, invisible/underground fencing, or tie-outs/long leads do not count as securely fenced yards. These may still be acceptable as we go case by case with homes with no fencing, but we will have some follow up questions.

  • Foster Dog Preferences

In this section, we’d love to learn more about the type of foster dog that would be the best fit for your home and lifestyle. Every foster home has different strengths, comfort levels, and limitations, and there’s no one-size-fits-all in rescue. Letting us know your preferences helps us make thoughtful, realistic matches that benefit both you and the dog.

This may include things like size, age, energy level, medical needs, behavior considerations, or compatibility with children, cats, or other dogs in the home. Being honest about what you feel prepared to handle ensures a smoother fostering experience and helps us place dogs where they can truly thrive.
  • Tell Us About Your Home Life

Every dog has different needs, so understanding your home environment helps us place a foster dog where they’ll be most comfortable and successful. In this section, we’re looking to learn more about your day-to-day life—things like who lives in the home, typical schedules, activity level, and what a foster dog’s routine might look like with you.

There’s no “perfect” setup, and honest answers are far more helpful than ideal ones. Whether your home is busy or quiet, full of other pets or just you, this information allows us to match dogs appropriately and set everyone up for a positive fostering experience.
  • Are you a homebody who loves couch cuddles, an adventurer looking for a trail buddy, or somewhere in between? Do you have a full house of kids, roommates, or just a collection of plants that may or may not survive?
  • This helps us get a fun peek into what your pup’s daily routine would look like with you — and makes sure the dog you’re interested in would be able to thrive with your schedule!
  • This helps us get a fun peek into what your pup’s daily routine would look like with you — and makes sure the dog you’re interested in would be able to thrive with your schedule!
  • We ask this question to better understand your dog’s daily routine while you’re away. Every household is different, and knowing where your dog will spend their time helps us ensure their setup is safe, comfortable, and practical for both you and your new companion.
  • We ask this question to get a clear picture of what your dog’s nighttime routine will look like —This helps us make sure the dog you’re interested in will be comfortable with your bedtime setup and routine, and that their personality matches your household’s evening rhythm.

  • We know life can be complicated, and sometimes things don’t work out as planned. If you’ve ever had to rehome or return a pet in the past, we need to know. Please be honest – we're not here to judge, and your application won't be tossed out just because you made a difficult decision in the past. But, if you don’t share this information and we find out later, we might have to reconsider your application.

Remember, transparency helps us understand your experience as a pet parent and ensures that we’re making the best match for both you and the dog. So, feel free to share any context or reasons – we appreciate your honesty!

  • Tell Us About Your Other Pets

Why are we asking about your other pets?
Because we want to make sure everyone gets along in the family! We know some pets are social butterflies, while others prefer to keep to themselves. By learning about your other pets, we can ensure a smooth transition for your new dog, so nobody feels like they’re being crowded out of their territory.

*Altered simply means a dog has been spayed or neutered — in other words, they’ve been surgically sterilized so they can’t reproduce

*We ask about your pets personality because knowing whether your pet is playful, laid-back, protective, shy, or prefers their personal space helps us find a dog whose temperament will blend well with your household.

  • Heartworm prevention is vital to protect your dog from potentially life-threatening heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. This simple monthly medication helps prevent heartworms, which can cause severe damage to the heart and lungs. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in your dog’s health, and we’ll check with your vet to verify that they’re up to date.

  • Veterinary Care

We ask for your vet's information because it helps us ensure your pets are receiving the appropriate care they need. It also allows us to verify that your current pets are up to date on vaccinations, preventatives (like heartworm and flea/tick), and other essential health protocols. We understand that some people prefer a more holistic approach or may not take their pets to the vet unless absolutely necessary. It doesn’t make you a bad pet owner, but due to the often poor condition that many of our dogs are in when they come to us, we need to ensure that you're prepared to continue meeting their vetting needs. For the dog’s health and safety, we require that all dogs in the home be up to date on necessary vetting. Unless you're willing to get them updated and continue providing proper care, we unfortunately won’t be able to move forward with your application.
