Piedmont AHEC Teen Health In-Person Club
Career Development Facilitators, Parents & Students
The Piedmont AHEC now accepts applications for the 2023-2024 Piedmont AHEC Teen Health Careers Club. The Teen Health Careers Club will meet virtually on the second Monday of each month from 6:00 p.m. - to 7:30 p.m. The club comprises students in grades 9-12 who are strongly interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.
We are planning to meet virtually/hybrid and have found this model to be effective and allow more students interested in healthcare to attend. We plan to use the Zoom platform, which can be downloaded for free. There will be opportunities for hybrid sessions.
Our curriculum will include the following:
• Health Career Exploration, Leadership, and Service Learning.
• Involvement and engagement in community service, Addressing community health issues.
• Meet other health career-interested students, Participate in an array of science workshops designed to prepare them for service learning to include: Vulnerable populations, Cultural competency, Ethical & Legal issues
• Health Care skills CPR & AED Certifications, and Passport completer.
• Leadership, Branding, ACT/SAT Prep, and more!
Eligible priority students must: Reside in the following counties: Guilford, Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Rockingham, Randolph, Montgomery, and Orange.
• Have at least a 2.8/4.0 GPA
• Be in grades 9th- 12th
• Have an interest in learning more about careers in healthcare and are willing to commit to meeting on the second Monday of each month from October 2023 – to May 2024.
