ELIGIBILITY
ALL high school students grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. You must be available for the regional Semi-Final and Final rounds held in Atlanta, as well as the National Competition held in May of 2019, in New York City. To be eligible you must still be enrolled in high school as of May 2019. Please note that there are no electronic auditions allowed.

COMPETITION
Prepare a 1-3 minute monologue of your choosing, from one of the ten plays in August Wilson’s Century Cycle. Your monologue must not exceed 3 minutes or be under 1 minute. You will be judged on the basis of preparedness, understanding of the text, emotional connection to the material, and commitment to the performance.

PRELIMINARY DATES
There are three rounds to the competition: preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals. We currently have four different locations and dates, as to make it easier for students to attend. Please select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice regarding your preliminary. Please know that additional dates will be added, so if there is not a location near you, we will identify as we get closer to the preliminary dates.
