2019-2020 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
  • NCRA’s Nominating Committee is petitioning for candidates to be considered for elected office. Nominations may be made by the membership as well as by the Nominating Committee, which will prepare the slate for the 2020 election. Nomination forms must be submitted electronically. Those elected will begin to serve May 2020.

    Candidates for the following positions are being sought for the 2020 NCRA Election:

    Board Positions
    • President-Elect/Secretary (one-year term with rollup to President)
    • Treasurer Junior (one-year term with rollup to Treasurer Senior)
    • Professional Development Board Director (two-year term)
    • Public Relations Board Director (two-year term)

    Council on Certification Positions
    • Council Administrator (three year term)
    • Council on Certification Representatives (four positions, each serving two year terms)

    Nominating Committee Positions (each region has two positions, each serving one year terms)
    • Nominating Committee Members – East Region
    • Nominating Committee Members – West Region
    • Nominating Committee Members – Midwest Region

    Position Eligibility
    Candidates for all positions will be required to submit a philosophy statement, a Candidate Profile Summary, and a resume/CV. If available, please attach with your submission.

    Board and Council positions may be elected to succeed themselves in office, but shall not serve more than two full terms consecutively. Per NCRA Bylaws, Article IV Section 3, below are the eligibility requirements of the various positions.

    To be eligible to serve as an officer of NCRA, a candidate must have been an active member in good standing for at least one year.

    To be eligible to serve as:
    President-Elect/Secretary: The active member shall have served at least one term on the Board of Directors or as the chairman of a standing committee prior to nomination.

    Other Board Positions: The active member shall demonstrate interest in and focus on the duties as described in the Standing Rules.

    Council on Certification Administrator: The active CTR certificant shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR®), shall have served at least one term on the Council of Certification within the past five years prior to nomination, and shall not hold employment in any educational services related field that provides instruction to future registrars.

    Council on Certification Representative: The active CTR shall have a minimum of three (3) years experience as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) and shall not hold employment in any educational services related field that provides instruction to future registrars.

    Nominating Committee Member: Individuals shall have been voting members of NCRA for two (2) years immediately prior to committee membership, not be candidates for any elected positions during their terms of office and be residents of their respective geographic regions.

    Geographic Regions
    NCRA has divided its regions into 3 geographic sections. Regional representatives shall be elected solely by those voting members residing in each of the three regions. Residence in a geographic region is defined by the member's official NCRA mailing address:

    Eastern Region
    Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, Prince Edwards Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Africa, Europe

    Midwest Region
    Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Mexico, Central America, South America

    Western Region
    West Region encompasses: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Middle East, Asia, Australia

    Nominating Process
    If you are interested in running elected office, please complete the form and attach your resume/CV. Your signature attests to your willingness to serve commencing with the 2020 term.
    Candidate Profile Summaries must be submitted electronically (i.e. Microsoft Word or via online submission system only). HARD COPIES OF THE DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

    To submit the name of another individual for consideration to elected office, complete that section on the form. YOU are responsible for insuring that the individual whose name you have submitted is willing to serve if elected. Therefore, you must include his/her written consent along with the Candidate Profile Summary.

    *Receipt of each candidate petition will be acknowledged.
    **Please note that submission of a nomination form does not guarantee selection for the NCRA ballot.

    Instructions: Please supply the following information listed in the summary form outlined below. Provided information will be published in your candidate profile on the NCRA website. ALL candidates must submit the following information electronically. Profiles should NOT exceed one page with one inch margins. A resume or curriculum vitae is required but will not be accepted in lieu of submitting this Candidate Profile Summary Form.

  • Candidates for all positions MUST ALSO INCLUDE A CANDIDATE POSITION STATEMENT. Philosophy statements should not exceed 300 words. Philosophy statements shall answer the following questions:

    • Why would you like to become a part of NCRA’s leadership?
    • What relevant skills, abilities and expertise would you bring to the position (financial, leadership, advocacy, etc.)?
    • In your opinion, what are the three most important services that NCRA should provide?

    For Board of Director candidates only, please add:

    • If elected, please describe two to three important issues, opportunities and/or challenges that you feel will need to be addressed in this position during your term.
