RICochet Emergency Grant Fund
Emergency financial assistance for Rhode Island College students funded by the RIC Alumni Association

The Rhode Island College Alumni Association established this fund in December 1994 to assist students with financial emergencies so that they may remain in college. Need-based grants of up to $1,000 will be made to cover emergency expenses, for items such as tuition, books, educational supplies, health, housing, and childcare. Any matriculated RIC student who is enrolled in courses and in good standing with the College may apply. Exceptions to the enrollment criteria may be made during the add/drop period to assist students with lifting a Financial Hold on their account.

Please note that if a student has an outstanding balance on their student account, the grant will be first applied to that balance - any remaining funds will then be awarded to the student.

Eligibility is subject to financial need, and approval of the grant may result in a reduction of eligibility for other forms of financial aid. Students with no unmet need as determined by Financial Aid are ineligible to receive funds. Unmet need is the amount that's left to be paid after financial aid is awarded.

Students with a GPA of at least a 2.5 are given preferential consideration. Preference is also given to students who will not be able to continue their studies unless they receive immediate financial assistance.

Please note that before the RICochet Committee reviews the applications, students meet with a Learning for Life Navigator to explore all possible resources to address their needs. This system ensures that students receive individualized attention and support in overcoming any barriers to completing their Rhode Island College degree.

The information submitted on this application will be shared with members of the selection committee, which includes representatives from Student Life, Learning for Life, Financial Aid, and the Alumni Board.
