  • Are you interest in pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) degree, but think you're not ready or don't know where to start? Join this one-year program to get Calculus ready, receive STEM Counseling and Student Support Specialist assistance, embedded tutoring, and STEM Internship support.

    Upon completion of the one-year program, STEM Core students will be ready to take higher-level science and math courses. Latinx, low-income, and/or first generation college students are particularly encouraged to apply. Upon completion of program requirements, students may be eligible for summer internships with a STEM Core Employer, sponsor, or other regional employers.

    Please complete the application below to be considered for the STEM Core Program. One group (cohort) of 35 students will be selected to participate in STEM Core. The early application deadline is June 28, 2019. The application will remain open throughout Summer 2019 for applicants.

    STEM Core Requirements:
    •Participate in a minimum of 4 career exploration activities (i.e., workshops, job fairs, job board account creation, field trips, one-on-one appointments, and/or other related workshops coordinated by the STEM Counselor and/or Career Center);
    •Attend a mandatory 2019 summer orientation (Mon 8/12)
    •Attend a mandatory January 2020 kick-off
    •Attend one mandatory check-in per semester with the STEM Counselor
    •Attend one mandatory check-in per semester in the Career Center


    STEM Core Track:

    FALL:
    Math 104 (Trigonometry), 3 units, 6 weeks (MTWTh | 9:35AM - 12PM)
    Math 141 (Pre-calculus), 5 units, 10 weeks (MTWTh | 9:35AM - 12PM)
    PERG 120 (College Success), 3 units, 16 weeks (F 9:00AM-12:10PM)

    SPRING:
    Math 150 (Calculus I), 5 units, 16 weeks
