STAR Fundraising Guidelines
Fundraisers must submit an online application and confirm approval from STAR®
before using our logo or name associated with the event.
STAR® reserves the right to refuse funds raised at unapproved events and activities.
Third‐party events may not be represented as events sponsored by STAR®.
Promotions for the event should reflect STAR® as a beneficiary, and not conducting the event (i.e. “proceeds from XYZ Golf Tournament will benefit Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response®”).
All promotional materials related to an event benefiting STAR® must be reviewed and approved by the STAR® prior to distribution (e.g. flyers, press releases, tickets, brochures, posters, etc.).
The event organizers are responsible for maintaining accounting for the event.
All donation checks must be payable directly to STAR®.
Only checks payable to STAR®, and cash donations clearly labeled with the
donor’s information, will be provided with a tax deductible acknowledgment
letter in accordance with IRS and state tax regulations.
Event host must inform STAR® of any effort to recruit major financial
underwriters to ensure there is no duplication of underwriting efforts already
underway.
Event organizers should submit funds, payable to STAR®, and appropriate documentation from individuals and/or businesses regarding their financial donations within 30 days following the event.
