SHRM NYS HR Professional of the Year Award

The SHRM NYS Human Resources Professional of the Year Award recognizes a human resource leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way. “Best in class,” the individuals nominated for this award serve as role models for the profession by setting the standard for others to follow and apply their expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Eligibility Criteria

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT:
• Must be a member in good standing of SHRM National.
• Must be a current member of one of the Professional Chapters in the State of New York.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 5-7 years of professional HR experience.
• Demonstrated career progression within the field of human resources.

LEADERSHIP & INFLUENCE:
• Proven leadership skills and a significant track record of contributing to the advancement of the HR profession.
• Has implemented innovative HR practices that have led to measurable improvements in organizational effectiveness.

ROLE MODEL & MENTOR
• Serves as a role model for other HR professionals, exemplifying high ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.
• Actively mentors and supports the development of emerging HR leaders within their organization or community.

COMMUNITY & PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT
• Active involvement in the HR community, including participation in SHRM chapter activities, committees, or leadership roles.
• Contributions to the broader HR profession through speaking engagements, publications, or volunteer work.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
• Champions diversity, equity, and inclusion within their organization and the broader HR profession.
• Evidence of initiatives or programs led by the nominee that have promoted a more inclusive workplace.

These qualifications aim to identify and celebrate HR leaders who not only excel in their roles but also make substantial contributions to the field and inspire others to achieve excellence.

Recipient will receive:
• Prestigious Award Presentation: The award will be presented at the annual state conference and associated council meeting, attended by professionals across New York State.
• Prominent Feature in NYS SHRM’s social media
• Charitable Contribution: A $500 donation will be made in the recipient's name to the SHRM Foundation.
• Honorarium: A $250 honorarium awarded to the winner.
• Plaque: Provide an engraved plaque to the recipient.
• Complimentary Conference Registration: Enjoy a complimentary registration to the following year's New York State Conference
