McElroy Minority Scholarship Application
Full tuition-scholarship

This application requires a 250-500 word essay and two letters of recommendation. Please have those materials ready before you complete this application form.

The McElroy Scholarship Competition also includes a 15-minute interview conducted by three members of the Wartburg community (a current McElroy Scholar and two faculty/staff members). The interview questions are designed to help us get to know you better. They may relate to your involvement in activities, your past achievements, your goals and aspirations for the future, and your thoughts and ideas on community and public issues. The interview will help us evaluate your potential for leadership at Wartburg. Interviews will be scheduled on an individual basis.
  • Community and Extracurricular Activities

List your community and extracurricular activities in the space provided. Include awards and honors you have received as well as volunteer and leadership positions you have held.
  • Essay

Please write an essay on how you would benefit from a Wartburg education. The essay should be no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words. It should demonstrate your ability to write clearly. The topic does not call for a “correct” answer, but rather for your thoughtful response. Essays will be evaluated on content, organization, clarity, and evidence to support your position. Once you have written your essay, please paste it in the field below.
  • Letters of Recommendation

You must upload two letters of recommendation. One should be from a high school teacher. The other should be from a person unrelated to you who has known you outside the classroom through employment, church, activities, community service, athletics, etc.
