Council Members: Bezu fails to relate in building scale and mass with its surrounding neighborhood. Therefore, Bezu should be found to be inconsistent with the design requirements of the Intown Redevelopment Plan. Such a conclusion readily stands out when one views the pictures of the proposed development - it is indeed true in this case that a picture is worth a 1000 words! It is also important to remember that this case will set a precedent. If you allow Bezu to proceed you will never be able to say no to any other proposed out of place development that overwhelms the scale and feel of its historic neighborhood. Downtown is special, particularly the 4th Ave. N. corridor where Bezu would be built. On 4th, between 1st St. & the Coliseum there are five designated local landmarks and an additional five properties that have been determined eligible for local landmark designation! Bezu would be out of scale with all of these historic buildings and the pedestrian feel of the neighborhood. Let's preserve the 'Burg from out of scale development! Please say no to such development that fails to respect our city's past, its sense of place and the requirements of the Intown Redevelopment Plan.
