The purpose of this event is to recognize outstanding teachers and provide scholarships to graduating high school students who want to become educators. This event will be held at the Bayou City Event Center, 9401 Knight Rd, Houston, Texas 77045 at 6:00 P.M. on February 6, 2019.

Applications completed after 11:59 pm will not be considered for the financial award competition; however, the nominee will be honored and recognized at the ceremony.     As an educator, your task is to develop an As an educator, your task is to develop an original lesson plan (one typed lesson) that addresses the needs and ensures academic success for the students described in the following categories:

    a.) English Language Learners
    b.) At-Risk
    c.) Special Needs
    d.) Academically Gifted

    This plan should include an overall instructional goal, supported by objectives. It should also include activities that allow students to display 21st century learning skills including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, and technology integration. Be sure to outline key targets for student understanding, critical vocabulary necessary to be successful, and assessment strategies that will be used to determine student mastery.

    In no more than 1 page, please answer the following statement/questions in typewritten format:

    1) Describe your most significant contributions and accomplishments in education.

    2) If chosen as the HAABSE Teacher of the Year, what ideas and/or contributions would you bring forth to the organization and how would you implement them?

    3) Membership is key in HAABSE, what will you do to build/keep active membership and would you be able to take on the responsibility of becoming your campus contact person?
