Introduction
The New Mexico Governor’s Commission on Disability (GCD) is committed to improving the quality of life of all New Mexicans with disabilities by addressing social integration, economic self-sufficiency, political resolve, physical and program responsibility, and full participation in the benefits of life and rights of all individuals.
Location of Position
The position is located 491 Old Santa Fe Trail Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Applicants must be a resident of, or be willing to relocate to, New Mexico.

Main Purpose of Job
The Director of the Governor’s Commission on Disability (GCD) is a Full-Time exempt position and serves at the will of the Commission. The selected individual will provide professional leadership in planning, directing, and administering all aspects of the responsibilities as they relate to the key objectives and strategies of the GCD strategic Plan.
Position Duties
• Management of personnel, hiring and supervising staff for the GCD as authorized by the New Mexico State Personnel Board Rules and Regulations.

• Advocate for the achievement of agency goals within state, federal, and local governments, and among service providers, private sector, and the general public.

• Provide testimony on issues affecting persons with disabilities and to keep advised of the status of legislative actions affecting persons with disabilities or the commission.

• Preparation and Presentation of the Annual Report.

• Report on activities in past legislative sessions and present issues for legislative hearings to the commission prior to each session.

Minimum Education or General Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Master's Degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years senior management experience to include: budget and accounting management, personnel management, program management, policy development and implementation public relations, outreach, and advocacy. Prior knowledge of and with 5 years related experience in the Disability-related to working with people or programs benefiting people with disabilities.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
