COVID-19 ADJUSTMENTS: In response to the current pandemic and impacted closures, both in-person or remote work will be accepted for Work Experience. In addition, the WE faculty orientation and site visits, which typically occur in-person, may take place virtually, most likely via Zoom. For more detailed information, please visit the SDCCD Work Experience website. Students completing in-person placements are highly encouraged to follow all health and safety protocols outlined by the CDC, Public Health Officials, and employment site.

    For the satisfactory completion of all types of Work Experience Education, students may earn up to a total of 16 semester credit hours. Title 5, Section 55253.

    The following forms must be completed in order to submit a Work Experience Application and to receive approval to obtain an ADD code to enroll.

    NOTE: The SDCCD Keenan Sexual Harassment Training is no longer required in order to receive an add code to enroll in a Work Experience course; however, students must complete the training prior to logging your Work Experience hours. Students will automatically receive an email from the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) outlining steps to complete the training at the time of enrollment. Students that do not complete the training by the designated add/drop deadline will be dropped from Work Experience 270 and 272 courses.

    Immunization Verification Spring 2020 - Only required of students interested in enrolling in co-requisites CHIL 270 (Pearson, L. | CRN # 22992) and CHIL 151 (Pearson, L. | CRN # 22958). These class sections must be taken together and students must complete and upload the Mesa Child Development Vaccination Form below as proof of vaccination completion. No other verification forms will be accepted.

    Work Experience is designed to help students develop professional skills through hands-on experience. Evaluate your current performance/ability of each of these 21st Century workplace skills prior to beginning your Work Experience. Ratings of student performance of each skill will be shared with your Work Experience Instructor and Site Supervisor to be discussed at the beginning and end of your Work Experience.

    As a Work Experience student, I understand and approve that my Work Experience Instructor/Coordinator will be providing information about my Work Experience educational activities and enrollment to my Site Supervisor and my Site Supervisor will be providing information to my Work Experience Instructor/Coordinator concerning my educational job-related objectives and records.

    I also acknowledge and agree to fulfill all requirements and expectations of the Work Experience class I enroll in as outlined by Title 5 and the Work Experience Student Handbook (Minimum # of hours, required forms, evaluations, etc.). Failure to meet these requirements, specifically the minimum # of hours, may result in a failing grade assigned for your Work Experience course.
