2023 Call to Indigenous Artists - Mural
City of London Indigenous Mural Project

To celebrate, honour, and share Indigenous culture and history, the London Arts Council, in collaboration with the City of London, invites Indigenous Artists/Creators to submit expressions of interest (EOI) to be considered for the Indigenous Public Art Mural Project at the East Lions Community Centre.

Submissions will be accepted through the online application only until Friday, October 20th, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.

Eligibility

Indigenous Artists/Creators who are 18 years of age or older and reside in cities, counties, regions, and First Nations located throughout Southwestern Ontario (excluding the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area) to submit expressions of interest (EOI) to be considered for the Indigenous Public Art Mural Project at the East Lions Community Centre.


Intellectual Property

The artwork provided is the original artwork and is the sole intellectual property of the Artist/creator/Practitioner of Traditional Arts, with no copyright infringements. Please refer to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office website link for clarification on copyright:

Submission Information

• A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) previously completed mural project images to be submitted.
• A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of six (6) other supporting materials that best demonstrate your artistic style and creative process to be submitted.
• A description of proposed design concept using the theme “Firekeeper”, open to your interpretation to be submitted.
• One (1) preliminary conceptual sketch of your proposed design to be accompanied with the proposed design concept description.


Selection Process

In the spirit of the Two Row Wampum, artworks/creations will be selected by an assessment panel comprised of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members.


Other Information

Selected Artist/Creator will be notified by email.

Please note that it is the responsibility of Artist/Creator responsibility to ensure the safe delivery of the selected artwork/creation.

Selected Artist/Creator will be responsible for providing proof of scissor lift and/or air lift scaffolding certificate.

Detailed instructions for artwork delivery will be provided to selected Artist/Creator via email.
