Section 718.111 of the Florida Condominium Act
Standard phone numbers and email addresses are generally classified as protected personal identifying information that the association cannot automatically hand out during routine records inspection requests.
The Directory Exception: The law allows the association to create, print, and distribute an official owner directory with phone numbers as an exception.
Opt-Out Right: Any unit owner can block their phone number from being published by giving the association a written request to opt out.
Florida condominium associations cannot publish owners' phone numbers to the general public. Under the Florida Condominium Act, personal identifying information like phone numbers and email addresses are protected and exempt from general public or even routine member inspection.
Privacy and Directory Rules Protected Data: Phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contacts are legally confidential and withheld from standard records requests made by fellow owners.
Opt-Out Right: Even if a directory is created for internal community use, any owner has the absolute right to have their phone number excluded by submitting a written request.
