Hayes Kanyike
Kanyike is a well-known philanthropist in his community. He has volunteered at a variety of local groups, including Wappingers School, Brother to Brother, US Army Reserves, Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce, and the Waterfront Advisory Committee, in addition to donating to the Poughkeepsie school district.

Hayes Kanyike has faced several obstacles during his life. He arrived in the United States as a refugee and lost both of his parents before becoming 18 years old. His father was a famous man in Uganda until he was deposed by tyrant Idi Amin for disobeying instructions. His humanitarian activity is a method for him to inspire people to persist in the face of adversity while also benefiting his town.
