2026 Hometown Halloween Decorating Contest
Show off your Halloween spirit with spider webs, skeletons and tombstones and join the annual Hometown Halloween Decorating Contest! The contest is open to any home within the City of Oakley and is limited to the exterior front yard and roof only. Entries will be posted online for public voting. Decorations installed by a professional service will not be eligible. The winner will receive an Ace Hardware gift card and a yard sign to display on Halloween.

One video or photo will be accepted per address. Videos must be 1 minute or less in length and with no added sound, text or graphics overlay. Please note that YouTube video submissions will be linked to the channel you upload it to. MP4, PNG or JPEG submissions are preferred. Please no Facebook links.

If your entry does not meet the submission requirements, you will be contacted to correct the issue before the deadline of October 15th. If you are unable to provide a photo or corrected link by the submission deadline, only your address will be displayed on the voting page.

  • This Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement is intended to discharge in advance the City of Oakley and its officers, employees, volunteers and agents from any and all liability arising out of or connected in any way with my participation in said activity, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities mentioned above. It is further agreed that this Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement is to be binding on my heirs and assignees. I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, damages or loss that I or my minor child/ward may sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with each activity. I additionally agree to indemnify the City against any claims or rights of action for damages which I or the minors has/have before or after they reach age of majority. I further agree that certain marketable information may be used in accordance with State Laws and regulations. Such items include: e-mail addresses, photos and press releases that include statements made by myself in publication of said activities.
