How to Downgrade From iOS 14 and iPadOS 14
If you installed iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 via Apple's developer program or the public beta after it was released, you may decide to downgrade due to bugs. Continue reading to find out how it's done.

In comparison to previous years' betas, iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 are relatively stable. However, Apple's beta versions of major software updates are notoriously buggy, particularly in early releases.

Apps that don't work properly, low battery life, device crashes, and features that don't do what they're supposed to are all possibilities. You can, thankfully, restore your iPhone or iPad to a previous version of iOS.

If you made an archived backup before installing the beta, you can uninstall it and restore the backup. You can still downgrade if you didn't make a backup, but you won't be able to restore your device to its previous state before you upgraded.

Also, if you've installed watchOS 7 on your Apple Watch, you won't be able to use it with your iPhone once you've returned to iOS 13. Downgrading an Apple Watch to a previous version of watchOS is also not possible manually; if you want to remove watchOS 7, you must send your watch to Apple.

Downgrading from iOS 14 or iPadOS 14

Start Finder on your Mac.
Using a Lightning cable, connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac.
Enter recovery mode on your device. The method depends on your device, so look for your model in the list below these steps. In this support article, Apple also discusses Recovery mode in greater detail.

If you want to restore your device, a dialog box will appear. To wipe your device and install the most recent public release of iOS or iPadOS, select Restore.
Wait for the restore process to finish.

How to Boot Your iOS Device into Recovery Mode

Face ID iPad models: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button. Hold down the Top button until your device starts to restart. Hold the Top button down until your device enters recovery mode.
iPhone 8 or later: Quickly press and release the Volume Up button. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.
iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation): simultaneously press and hold the Top (or Side) and Volume Down buttons. Hold them down until you see the recovery mode screen.
iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier, and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: simultaneously press and hold the Home and Top (or Side) buttons. Hold them down until you see the recovery mode screen.
After you've completed the preceding steps, you can use your Mac or iCloud to restore a backup of your device from iOS 13 or iPadOS 13.
