Annie is interested in studying creativity through the creative cognition approach. This approach states that our ability to be creative is driven by cognitive processes that underlie our everyday functions. That is, creativity is not some “special” trait that only some people possess and others do not. Annie is specifically interested in how remembering and forgetting drive how people come to have new ideas and overcome blocks to those new ideas. Currently, she is investigating the mechanisms underlying incubation effects in problem-solving.
