Musical setup @ Tango events
This form mainly speaks to organisers of social* argentine tango events worldwide. It researches the musical setup at different sorts of events.

You may also answer the questionnaire, if you are a well-informed visitor of the event and feel competent to answer the questions, but in case that the organisers also fill out the questionnaire, I will count their form.
Please fill out a separate form for each event.

The results of this questionnaire will be used by Melina Sedó (melinasedo.com + tangodesalon.de) in her work at dj-seminars and teacher-trainings or as tango-blog-author.
Thank you for participating. In case you want to help me with my reserach, just copy the link and publish wherever you deem it appropriate.

* Social refers to the fact that there is social dancing, no pure tango shows without the possibility to dance.
  • Please only lists events, that actually still exist or will take place in the near future. No milongas or events that have stopped years ago.
  • In case that there is only a Facebook event, please post the link here.
  • In case of changing locations, please note.
  • If your local milonga once in a while has a visitor from a far-away country, it still counts as local milonga as do milongas that take place near a country-border. Our regular Milongas in Saarbrücken for example are frequented by dancers from Germany, France and Luxembourg. Also we quite often have visitors from other countries because of our teacher trainings. I still call it a regional milonga, because these dancers don't travel to our town because of the milonga. They just happen to be there because of the training.
  • In case that the event changed its nature of the course of the time, please note the current type. Our FCA is e.g. an Encuentro Milonguero, although it started as a Festivalito. Your event might have developed from a milonga-weekend to a marathon. For the definitions of different types please read https://melinas-two-cent.blogspot.com/2016/03/abc-of-tango-events.html
  • No events before 1970 or after 2020. Never mind, whether the event evolved, changed (e.g. from a festivalito to an encuentro) over the years or whether there were years/weeks in which it did not take place.
  • In case of a festival or workshop weekend, please state the total number of participants over the event. Marathons, Encuentros and Festivalitos Milongueros are assumed to have a fixed number of participants over the weekend that will be roughly the same at every milonga. (Do not bother, because there will be less participants on Saturday evening.)
  • In case of a Marathon without breaks, please count the dj-sets. Please count pre- and after-milongas only if organised by the same person/group like the main event. For a regular weekly/monthly milonga, please write "1".
  • Number of Milongas/Dj-Sets
100% Traditional (historic orchestras + the odd tanda of a contemporary orchestra)
    Mostly Traditional
    Mixed (approximately 50%/50%)
    Mostly Alternative
    100% Alternative (Non, Neo, Electro)
  • The organisers might e.g. not encourage the use of recordings by contemporary orchestras or want to limit the range of the music to the 30s - 50s. Or there might be lots of music from the 20s. Or you always include a tanda of Chacarera or Rock'n Roll. Whatever is worth mentioning.
  • Personal questions

  • You may remain anonymous, in case you use your name, it will not be published in any form, but only used to ask questions, if anything is unclear.
  • You do not have to leave your email-address, but it may help to ask further questions, if anything is unclear.
