  • After reading this infomation, please complete the rest of the form if you want your school to participate in the CAA School Safety Patrol Program for 2019-2020. The program will be held October 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th at the Ancaster Fairgrounds.

    The 2019-2020 CAA School Safety Patrol Program will include schools across the Hamilton district for both the HWCDSB and HWDSB.

    If busing is required to transport your students to the patroller training session in September/October, the busing cost will be paid by Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services. A charter will be booked for you, and you will be informed of the dates and times.

    Here are some important points regarding the SSPP:

    » Since 1929, the SSPP has spread to every CAA club in Canada;

    » The SSPP operates as a partnership involving the CAA, police services and schools; each partner assumes certain roles to support the program;

    » At the school level, a teacher or administrator is the supervisor and looks after daily patroller operations;

    » There are 2 types of student patrollers – foot patrollers (HWDSB students only) and bus patrollers;

    » All student patrollers – bus and foot - must participate in a training session held each fall;

    » The mandatory CAA patroller vests are purchased by HWSTS and provided at no cost to all patrollers;

    Only the Canadian Automobile Association’s School Safety Patrol Program is recognized and supported by the Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services.
  • Important Dates/Deadlines:

    Deadline for submitting your participation is September 18th, 2019.

    All schools who respond with an intention to participate in the program to HWSTS by September 18th will be contacted by email to confirm your bus charter by October 4th.

    HWSTS will attempt to accommodate preferred sessions but cannot guarantee all requests.

    Training sessions will be held at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Patrollers from your school will be need to attend a session on one of the 4 scheduled training dates.
